PROGRAM DESIGN: Roads to Success Inc. offers a diverse range of youth initiatives, including after-school programs, summer camps, retreats, conferences, and employment opportunities, impacting thousands of young individuals across NYC annually. Our organization emphasizes the youth development framework of the Circle of Courage in all our initiatives, fostering an atmosphere of Belonging where youth can cultivate their Independence, enhance their Mastery skills, and practice Generosity within their communities. Central to our programs are staff training methodologies that empower our young professionals to forge profoundly meaningful connections with the youth in their care, whom we refer to as Our Future Leaders.
ORGANIZATIONAL ROLE:
- Supervisor: Program Director
- Compensation: $25 – $30 per hour
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct and facilitate one-hour sessions related to your area of expertise.
- Innovatively integrate academic elements into lesson plans.
- Develop and submit bi-weekly lesson plans for approval by the Education Specialist.
- Create lesson plans that build towards a culminating event or take-home activity.
- Provide lesson plans to group leaders in advance to enhance classroom support.
- Exhibit strong time management and organizational skills within a classroom environment.
- Collaborate with staff to maintain order and engagement during programs.
- Ensure the safety of all participants throughout the instructional period.
- Communicate with the Site Director regarding any schedule changes or behavioral concerns.
- Attend mandatory meetings and professional development sessions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Education Specialist, Site Director, or Assistant Site Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A degree or certification in your area of teaching.
- A minimum of one year of experience in school-age programs.
- At least one year of experience in lesson planning.
- A minimum of three years of teaching experience in your field of interest.
- Strong communication, punctuality, and teamwork skills.
