Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker II to join our team at the City of Savannah. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for performing complex maintenance and repairs of streets, sidewalks, curbs, lanes, and shoulders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform semiskilled and skilled manual labor tasks to maintain and repair streets, roadways, and infrastructure.
  • Flag traffic and set up work zones, assist crew chiefs and equipment operators as directed.
  • Inspect equipment and tools for proper operating condition, repair, maintain, and adjust equipment.
  • Support the relationship between the City of Savannah and the public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior.
  • Load and unload tools, construction materials, and equipment onto trucks.
  • Operate air/jack hammer to break out old concrete or asphalt when making repairs.
  • Excavate and trench grade to specific evaluation, trim, shovel, cut, and clean up debris and remove vegetation.
  • Perform other related or assigned duties as required.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One (1) year of skilled asphalt and/or concrete finishing experience.
  • Valid commercial driver's license.
