We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Mechanic II to join our team at Savannah-Chatham County Schools. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing skilled work in the construction and maintenance of our buildings and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform tasks of assigned trade, including carpentry, painting, electrical, and other maintenance and repair work.
- Assign and monitor work of other maintenance staff as needed, and instruct them in the proper use and care of hand tools, equipment, hardware, materials, and supplies.
- Ensure proper safety procedures are followed and maintain a safe working environment.
- Clean, repair, and maintain equipment and tools, and ensure proper storage.
- Perform other duties as necessary to ensure the effectiveness of the organization and the safety of students and staff.
- High school diploma and two years experience in maintenance, repair, or construction trade work, or equivalent.
- Demonstrable knowledge of tools, materials, and standard practices of building and/or equipment maintenance trades.
- Ability to use tools and equipment of maintenance and construction trades, and follow verbal and written directions.
- Able to qualify for commercial driver's license.
This position requires frequent climbing, bending, stooping, and crawling, as well as exposure to heavy dust, dirt, chemical or paint fumes, and other airborne matter. Must drive to various locations to perform work and use or operate hand tools and electric or gas-powered equipment.
This is a non-exempt position with a work calendar of 250 days. The salary schedule will be determined based on the Grade as determined by Human Resources and allowable experience.
