Job Title: Adaptive Physical Education Instructor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a part-time Adaptive Physical Education Instructor to join our team at SMCCCD. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in adaptive physical education and be able to teach a variety of courses to students with diverse needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach adaptive physical education courses to students with varying abilities
  • Develop and implement curriculum and instructional materials
  • Assist with outreach to local hospitals and clinics
  • Maintain student records and assist with admissions and enrollment process
  • Solicit, train, and supervise student volunteers and aides
  • Engage in student learning outcomes and assessment process
  • Coordinate with Disability Resource Center as needed
  • Maintain expertise in current teaching and discipline technologies
Requirements:
  • Masters or above in physical education, exercise science, education, or related field
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse student populations
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Recent experience teaching adaptive physical education or related field
  • Understanding and commitment to community college mission and goals
  • Ability to assess and document student learning outcomes
  • Knowledge of current theories and teaching methods
