Position: Quality Assurance Technician

Department: Quality Assurance

Status: Non-Exempt

Employee Classification: Regular Full-Time

Reports To: Quality Assurance & Sanitation Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Shift: 3:45 AM to 3:45 PM

Role Summary: This position is responsible for conducting quality assurance tests to ensure food safety and product quality across various categories including raw materials, packaging, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain accurate records in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  2. Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are upheld throughout the facility.
  3. Assist in pre-operational inspections.
  4. Support production activities as needed.
  5. Monitor and adhere to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  6. Conduct product quality testing (e.g., brix, pH, viscosity, color).
  7. Assist with sensory analysis preparations.
  8. Perform environmental monitoring swabs.
  9. Manage product documentation control, including scanning and filing.
  10. Carry out additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience or training may be considered.
  2. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  3. Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence.
  4. Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations.
  5. Effective communication skills for interaction with team members and customers.
  6. Problem-solving skills to address various situations.
  7. Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing software.

Working Conditions:

  1. Exposure to wet and humid environments.
  2. Potential exposure to loud noise levels.
  3. May encounter hazards such as extreme heat, moving parts, and electrical currents.
  4. Must be able to work in environments with allergens (e.g., nuts, milk, wheat).
  5. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  6. Occasional use of hands and fingers required.
  7. Frequent communication and sensory evaluation (taste and smell).
  8. Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry weights up to 50 pounds.
