Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medicolegal Death Investigator to join our team at PathGroup. As a Medicolegal Death Investigator, you will play a critical role in assisting with the investigation of deaths reported to the Medical Examiner, gathering and documenting pertinent data, and aiding the Medical Examiner in determining cause and manner of death.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough investigations of death scenes, gathering and documenting evidence and data.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the Medical Examiner, family members, employers, witnesses, and personnel from various fields.
  • Inspect and document the appearance and condition of death scenes, bodies, and other pertinent objects.
  • Obtain and review pertinent medical, social, family, and other history from persons and sources associated with the decedent.
  • Prepare and deliver required documentation and reports as directed.
  • Initiate and assist with necessary follow-up investigations and communications.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in a related field or Bachelor's Degree with three years' acceptable and proven experience in death investigation.
  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations affecting the operation of the Medical Examiner's Office.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to draw logical conclusions and exercise independent judgment.
