Position Overview

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Gastrointestinal Oncology Specialist to enhance the Department of Internal Medicine, specifically within the Division of Medical Oncology. The successful candidate will be appointed based on their academic credentials and professional experience.

Role Responsibilities

This role involves providing comprehensive patient care in both inpatient and outpatient environments. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough patient assessments, including interviews and medical history reviews.
  • Performing physical examinations to evaluate medical or surgical requirements.
  • Executing relevant oncology procedures and ordering necessary diagnostic tests.
  • Responding to consultation requests and developing tailored treatment plans.
  • Documenting all medical services and instructions accurately in patient records.
  • Educating patients and their families on wellness, prevention, and early detection strategies.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives and serving as a mentor to medical trainees.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree, have completed an accredited Oncology/Hematology Fellowship, and hold Board Certification in Internal Medicine, with eligibility or certification in Medical Oncology. Candidates must also meet the medical licensure requirements in Ohio and hold active DEA certification.
