Job Summary

The LPN School Nurse will be responsible for providing health and medical services to designated students, minimizing absences due to illness, and creating a climate of health and well-being in the school. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively with students, parents, and school personnel, and be able to maintain accurate health records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform student health procedures and assist students with medication administration
  • Conduct respiratory assessments and provide tracheostomy care as needed
  • Report on school health matters to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies
  • Maintain up-to-date health records on students
  • Observe students regularly to detect health needs
  • Work one-on-one with assigned students, travel to school on bus, and attend classes and activities as required
  • Provide emergency care for assigned students and advise on modifications to the education program to meet health needs
  • Prepare and submit reports for the lead nurse and principal
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Practical Nursing or equivalent education/training
  • Minimum of one year of practical nursing or closely related experience
  • Valid State of Georgia Practical Nurse license
  • Valid certificates in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid
