Eligibility
- This position is available to the general public, specifically U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or individuals who owe allegiance to the United States.
This role may be filled at the GG-05 grade level. Candidates should specify the grade level for which they wish to be considered. The incumbent may be promoted non-competitively to the designated target grade upon fulfilling developmental milestones, performance standards, and other applicable requirements.
Key Responsibilities
As a Background Investigation Specialist, your primary duties will include:
- Assisting in the execution of Federal Personnel Background Investigations, particularly those that are sensitive or contentious, involving allegations or ambiguous information of a potentially adverse nature.
- Assessing an individual's reliability for access to classified materials, suitability for sensitive roles, retention in military service, or eligibility for Federal employment.
- Supporting the collection and analysis of information from various records.
- Drafting investigation reports in compliance with Department of Defense guidelines and protocols.
- Providing assistance in the Field Office as necessary to maintain coverage of administrative tasks.
Employment Conditions
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Selective Service Requirement: Males born after must be registered for Selective Service.
- Resume and supporting documents must be submitted by the specified deadline.
- This position is designated for Drug Testing.
- Work Schedule: Full Time.
- Overtime: Occasionally required.
