American Sign Language Interpreter

At East Central Kansas Coop In Education, we are seeking a skilled American Sign Language Interpreter to facilitate communication between hearing and deaf or hard of hearing students in the classroom.

The successful candidate will serve as a liaison between deaf or hard of hearing students, hearing students, and instructors, and perform related work as required.

• Provide sign language interpretation services to ensure effective communication in the classroom.
• Interpret classroom instruction, conversations, events, and other spoken word situations using American Sign Language or other manual sign systems.
• Collaborate with the special education teacher to plan and organize instruction.

• Ability to accurately interpret spoken language to sign language and interpret sign spoken language to spoken language.
• Knowledge of American Sign Language or other sign systems used by students.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students and staff.

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Experience working in sign language.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language.

Compensation will be determined based on experience and salary schedule placement.
