Job Title: Nurse Flow Manager

First Choice Community Healthcare INC is seeking a skilled Nurse Flow Manager to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient flow of patients through our health centers.

Job Summary

The Nurse Flow Manager will work under the direct clinical supervision of the site Clinical Supervisor and with administrative direction from the Health Center Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate clinical staffing to ensure the efficient flow of patients through the Health Center and assist providers in delivering quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct patient intake and triage, ensuring effective and efficient patient flow.
  2. Monitor and take measures to ensure effective and efficient patient flow.
  3. Work with the Health Center Manager to interview, orient, train, educate, evaluate, and supervise assigned clinical support staff members.
  4. Assist with ordering medical supplies and equipment, making scheduled rounds of the health center to assess inventory and needs, and coordinating with the Health Center Manager to arrange for purchase and/or repair orders.
  5. Work with medical/lab assistants to support patient examination/treatment by FCCH providers, including vital signs, patient interviews, and specimen collection/preparation.
  6. Administer injections and medications as requested by the provider.
  7. Provide/assist with other patient treatments as requested by the provider.
  8. Perform venipuncture, lab procedures, record the results of laboratory tests in the patient record, and ensure coverage of the department.
  9. Oversee clinic drug room function and coverage on a daily basis.
  10. Ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of Patient Care Facilitator activities.
  11. Assist with/prepared to take a lead role in emergency situations and react quickly while making effective decisions.
  12. Assist with customer service issues.
  13. Help maintain strong lines of communication between site Leadership and all clinical personnel.
  14. Participate in staff meetings, site Leadership meetings, and organization Leadership meetings.
  15. Establish good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  16. Work closely with site leaders and organizational leaders to develop and implement needed changes, and to enhance quality of care while achieving a high level of patient, provider, and staff satisfaction.
  17. Maintain patient and employee confidentiality.
  18. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A State of New Mexico Licensed Practical Nurse, Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program.
  2. Two years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  3. Bi-lingual English/Spanish is preferred.
License/Certifications Required

You will need to have:

  1. A State of New Mexico Licensed/Registered Nurse or licensure pending, as documented by temporary license.
  2. CPR Certified.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

To excel in this role, you will need:

  1. Knowledge of nursing techniques and practices.
  2. Knowledge of clinical operations and documentation.
  3. Advanced knowledge of clinical patient intake procedures, and supervisory level/functional understanding of FCCH laboratory and pharmacy protocols.
  4. Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
  5. Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures.
  6. Functional knowledge of word-processing, database, and electronic medical record software programs.
  7. Ability to accurately observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
  8. Ability to safely lift, and physically manipulate patients.
  9. Knowledge of appropriate procedures and standards for the administration of medications and patient care aids.
  10. Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  11. Ability to educate and communicate effectively with patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment while making their visit a pleasant experience.
  12. Ability to prepare and process laboratory samples using established protocols.
  13. Knowledge of OSHA guidelines for blood borne pathogens/sterile technique requirements.
  14. Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  15. Ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments.
  16. Ability to use a multi-line telephone to schedule appointments and coordinate patient visits with center staff.
  17. Ability to work independently under the general direction of a provider and follow instructions for work completion.
  18. Ability to take the initiative to resolve patient concerns and problems.
  19. Ability to foster a cooperative environment.
  20. Demonstrated employee development and performance management skills.
  21. Ability to supervise and train assigned staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  22. Demonstrated knowledge of/familiarity with all applicable compliance expectations, including TJC and/or related accreditation and certification requirements, and ability to cooperate fully and comply with laws and regulations.
Age of Patients Served

All ages - geriatric, adult, adolescent, and pediatric.

Physical Characteristics/Working Conditions

A person in this position has sufficient time to complete most tasks although under pressure depending on patient and organization demands. There are opportunities to relax from any physical exertion or to change position in work activities.

  1. Physical Effort and Dexterity: Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
  2. Machines, Tools, Equipment: Capable of using medical equipment, office machines, and personal computers for word-processing and data entry.
  3. Visual Acuity, Hearing, and Speaking: Must be able to read results of medical tests and computer monitor and outputs accurately. Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately for work and safety compliance.
  4. Environment/Working Conditions: Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Work is inside a clinic in a controlled environment at multiple health centers working with managers, providers, support staff, and FCCH partners. Normal office and clinic safety precautions and practices are required. Position requires travel throughout the Albuquerque metropolitan area. Work regularly scheduled Monday-Friday, although weekends may be required meet deadlines.
