About the Role

The Plan Check Manager is a critical position at Cannon Corp, responsible for ensuring that all private development projects meet state and local codes. This role requires a high level of expertise in civil engineering, code principles, and technical writing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and evaluate the work of assigned plan check staff, ensuring that plans are submitted on schedule, within scope, and on budget.
  • Conduct business development and create proposals and presentations to secure new business opportunities.
  • Establish schedules and methods for providing plan check services, identifying resource needs and allocating resources accordingly.
  • Coordinate activities and plan review processing with City staff, including counter technicians, planners, inspectors, building officials, engineers, fire inspectors, and others.
  • Present plan check information to clients and external customers, both orally and in writing.
  • Mentor plan check work of less experienced engineers and maintain a high-performance, customer service-oriented work environment.
  • Make code interpretations, respond to inquiries, and provide information to architects, engineers, contractors, building designers, owners, and the general public.
  • Stay current with new trends and innovations related to civil engineering, including new and revised codes, materials, and products.
Requirements
  • 15+ years of experience in the civil engineering industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in plan checking for development projects.
  • California P.E. license in civil engineering.
  • Experience in business development.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Strong understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and policies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Professional appearance and interaction.
