Under general supervision, the technologist performs a range of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, from simple to complex. Responsibilities include operating imaging equipment and producing radiographs of designated body areas. Duties encompass image transfer, archiving, and adhering to established imaging protocols that meet departmental quality standards. The technologist works independently across various diagnostic areas and possesses knowledge of emergency procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Acts as Lead or Supervisor in their absence by managing patient flow, ensuring resource allocation aligns with tasks, troubleshooting equipment issues, and coordinating service calls for repairs.
- Assists radiologists during procedures as necessary.
- Ensures adherence to proper darkroom techniques, including identifying sub-optimal film processing and equipment malfunctions.
- Follows established radiation safety protocols, ensuring practices are 'ALARA' (as low as reasonably achievable) regarding time, distance, and shielding.
- Operates various imaging and fluoroscopic equipment to conduct imaging examinations, utilizing proper body mechanics to ensure patient safety during transfers.
- Participates in the orientation and training of staff, students, and residents.
- Prepares patients for examinations by introducing oneself, explaining procedures, confirming patient identity, and verifying order accuracy.
- Prepares examination rooms and equipment, troubleshooting equipment failures and reporting issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Processes identification data onto imaging plates and prepares images for radiologist review using image processing film or Picture Archive Communication System (PACS).
- Produces high-quality images in accordance with departmental and quality assurance protocols, including technique, views, positioning, proper labeling, and patient identification.
- Prepares contrast media under the direction of a radiologist and responds to any allergic reactions to contrast materials.
- Works across various diagnostic areas with knowledge of emergency and after-hours procedures.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications, is qualifying.
Education: Requirement met by License/Certification Requirement
Experience: One (1) year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
License/Certification: California State Fluoroscopic Permit (RTF), Certified by the State of California Department of Health Services in Diagnostic Radiology (CRT)

- Knowledge of patient positioning methods.
- Understanding of image processing principles and development applicable to diagnostic imaging.
- Knowledge of radiation production, positioning, and safety protocols.
Compensation Information
Compensation is determined based on the level and requirements of the role.
Salary within our ranges may also be influenced by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, along with internal equity and alignment with market data.
Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid-salary range.
Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $127,192.00 to $142,656.80
