Assembly Technician Job Description

Volt is seeking an experienced Assembly Technician to join our team in West Columbia, SC. As an Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for assembling and testing electronic components and subassemblies.

  • Read and follow production drawings and instructions to assemble components and subassemblies.
  • Position and align parts in specified relationships to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding device.
  • Perform crimping, staking, screwing, bolting, riveting, welding, soldering, cementing, press fitting, or similar operations to join or secure parts in place.
  • Mount assembled components to boards or units.
  • Assemble and attach hardware, such as caps, clamps, knobs, and switches, to assemblies.
  • Perform intermediate assembly tasks, such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating, and color-coding parts and assemblies.
  • Tend machines that press, shape, or wind component parts.
  • Perform online go-not-go testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
  • Set up station with correct documents and components per assembly drawing.
  • Handle/install polarized/non-polarized components on designated location on product.
  • Assist in performing repair work.

This is a full-time opportunity.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3 years of related experience
  • Ability to operate machinery and computers
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Understanding of and ability to use a wide variety of tools
  • Electronic and mechanical assembly experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple and complex instructions

Shift: 1st Shift - Hours: Monday - Thursday: 7:30am-4:00pm

Friday: 5:30am-2:00pm

OR

3rd Shift - Hours Sunday - Thursday 11:00pm-7:00am

Pay Rate: $18.00-$19.25/hr.

Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
