Job Summary:

The Nutrition Expert will work closely with our interdisciplinary team at Norwood Crossing to identify and review the nutritional needs of our residents, implementing interventions to maintain and achieve specific nutritional status and enhance the quality of life.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide nutritional expertise to the interdisciplinary team regarding residents on caseload.
  • Interact with other departments in setting up policies and procedures related to dining services and nutrition.
  • Participate in weekly care plans to provide updates and/or changes.
  • Collaborate with other personnel to plan and develop recipes or menus, taking into account seasonal availability and resident needs.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Ability to walk or stand 85% of time at work.
  • Able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds up to a max of 50 pounds.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition or related field.
  • Passed a national exam administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Licensed or certified, per state requirements.
  • Knowledge of regulation standards specific to comprehensive assessments, care planning, and resident's rights.
  • Ability to teach others, specifically pertaining to nutrition.
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions and to accept constructive criticism.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
  • Experience working in long-term care (preferred).
