Position Summary
The Finance and Insurance (F&I) Manager is responsible for structuring automotive financing deals for clients with varying credit profiles, ensuring compliance with lender policies and dealership standards. This role requires a candidate with sales management skills, as the F&I Manager will also support sales managers in their duties and step into the Sales Manager role when necessary.
Key Responsibilities of the F&I Manager
- Understand and apply dealership policies and procedures effectively.
- Maintain an organized and professional office environment.
- Promptly communicate any problematic deals to management.
- Address any missing documentation required by lenders without delay.
- Uphold a high standard of professional ethics and treat customers with respect.
- Possess knowledge of state finance regulations and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
- Collaborate with relevant departments as needed.
- Train and guide sales personnel on regulatory changes and compliance matters.
- Structure financing deals in line with lender and dealership guidelines.
- Ensure accurate representation of deals and equipment.
- Conduct credit interviews and prepare credit applications.
- Verify the accuracy of all information on credit applications before submission to lenders.
- Safeguard customer confidentiality at all times.
- Communicate financial details transparently to customers.
- Market credit insurance and service contracts effectively.
- Maintain positive relationships with lenders.
- Keep an updated lender guide and familiarize oneself with current programs.
- Evaluate new lending programs and present them to management.
- Review deals with lenders diligently and follow up on all transactions.
- Manage inventory logs and provide recommendations for inventory turnover.
- Assist in moving older inventory as needed.
- Maintain logs for calls and contracts in transit.
- Train administrative staff on preparing funding packages.
- Review funding packages for accuracy before submission.
- Demonstrate vehicles to customers when required.
- Create and manage advertising for special finance opportunities.
- Analyze credit reports to identify suitable financing options.
- Accurately calculate costs for special finance deals.
- Process deposits promptly.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as an F&I Manager is recommended.
- Bilingual candidates are preferred.
- Strong mathematical skills and proficiency with computers are essential.
