Job Summary

Purdue University Northwest is seeking a highly skilled Computer Systems Technician to provide technical support for scientific laboratory systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and calibrating electronic test equipment, as well as installing, calibrating, and testing new equipment for instructional and scientific laboratories and research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to faculty and staff on computer systems, electronics, and laboratory equipment.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate electronic test equipment, as well as install, calibrate, and test new equipment.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of teaching and research machines, parts, and equipment.
  • Ordering and Procurement: Order required machines, equipment, and parts for ECE and CES scientific laboratories and research.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with CES departments at the direction of the Dean and ECE department chair to maintain instructional scientific laboratories.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to computer systems, electronics, and laboratory equipment.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma required; Bachelor of Science or Technology degree in Electrical or Electronics or Electrical & Computer Engineering preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of experience with IT support required, including experience with electronics troubleshooting and repair, laboratory management technologies, and report writing.
  • Skills: Knowledge of electronic systems, Windows system administration, lab imaging procedures, and scripted configuration/installation of software applications; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
