Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct assessments, deliver instruction, and offer consultation to individuals with visual impairments, focusing on the proficient use of assistive technology in various applications to meet vocational, educational, or personal objectives.
2. Collaborate with diverse communities and various referral partners.
3. Independently oversee a designated caseload of learners.
4. Accurately assess client needs and aspirations.
5. Estimate instructional hours and necessary equipment.
6. Customize teaching methods to align with individual learning preferences.
7. Create clear and concise documentation of progress.
8. Maintain a schedule of client appointments and monitor advancement towards goals.
9. Initiate client contact promptly upon assignment.
10. Organize service schedules to maximize efficiency.
11. Ensure that enhanced skills are effectively utilized by clients.
12. Achieve a minimum of 95% client satisfaction based on feedback.
Professional Development:
Stay updated with the latest trends in mainstream and adaptive technology; provide guidance to the community and referral partners as necessary. Pursue opportunities for skill enhancement that reflect technological advancements. Ensure all required certifications and accreditations are up to date.
Curriculum Development:
Evaluate and improve the curriculum utilized by clients and staff. Identify and pursue training opportunities that enhance service delivery.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain precise records of programs and client services. Provide detailed descriptions of client progress and skill levels. Log daily training outcomes and prepare billing within established timelines. Submit evaluations and final reports promptly after service completion.
Collaboration and Support:
Engage in program planning and identify unmet needs. Actively participate in the preparation of professional presentations as assigned. Collaborate with colleagues as necessary and share professional insights as requested.
Qualifications:
1. A bachelor's degree in education, communications, or social sciences is preferred.
2. 2-3 years of experience in training or technology instruction is desirable.
3. ACVREP CATIS certification is preferred or the ability to obtain certification within three years.
4. Proficiency in assistive technologies such as JAWS, ZoomText, optical character recognition, video magnification, or electronic braille is essential.
5. Experience in a non-profit setting and working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
Skills Required:
1. Strong knowledge of Windows, MS Office, Internet technologies, Apple, and Android platforms.
2. Excellent project management and organizational skills.
3. Strong oral and written communication abilities.
4. Willingness to travel for client appointments within the designated service area.
