Position Summary
The Park Services Ranger and Hayride Coordinator operates under the guidance of the Animal & Park Curator or the Manager on Duty. The primary duties encompass delivering outstanding customer service to park guests while ensuring the park's cleanliness and safety. Responsibilities include transporting visitors on hay wagon rides throughout the park and managing bonfires during events. This position is at-will.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of park shelters and picnic areas, including trash disposal, leaf blowing, and restroom upkeep.
- Provide assistance and support to all guests during their scheduled events.
- Safely load and unload passengers from the hay wagon.
- Guide visitors along a designated route through the park.
- Oversee the initiation and management of bonfires.
- Adhere to all safety and loss prevention protocols.
- Report any unsafe conditions or hazardous practices to the supervisor.
- Address unsafe conditions when possible and educate co-workers on safety measures.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.
- Support fellow Park District staff as necessary.
Communication & Customer Engagement
- Effectively communicate and embody the mission of the Dundee Township Park District to staff.
- Foster and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues to enhance morale and enthusiasm.
- Demonstrate commitment to organizational values such as Accountability, Communication, Community Connection, Integrity, and Teamwork.
- Ensure timely communication of important matters to staff.
- Encourage feedback and actively listen to colleagues and patrons.
- Propose improvements and efficiencies when applicable.

- Represent the Dundee Township Park District professionally.
Safety & Risk Management
- Maintain knowledge of general and departmental-specific safety regulations.
- Promptly report all incidents and unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
- Assist in the investigation of accidents as needed.
- Attend all mandatory safety training and in-service education sessions.
- Address public complaints and concerns with utmost professionalism.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of work areas and facilities.
- Hold a current first aid/CPR certification and ensure staff are up to date as well.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
- A high school diploma is advantageous.
- Previous experience operating tractors with trailers or mid-sized equipment is preferred.
- Exceptional customer service, verbal communication, and listening skills are essential.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Good physical condition with adequate strength and mobility.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional software as required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
- Attention to detail is crucial.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to follow directions and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to read and comprehend materials printed in English.
- Must possess strong problem-solving abilities and remain composed in emergencies.

Work Hours
- This is a seasonal part-time role, typically involving less than 20 hours per week.
- Work hours will vary based on business needs, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- A consistent schedule may be established.
