Position: Pickleball Instructor

Position Summary
The Pickleball Instructor plays a vital role in overseeing and delivering specialized instruction in pickleball, ensuring a secure and enjoyable learning atmosphere for participants of all ages. This role is at-will and reports directly to the Full-Time Recreation Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans that promote fun and creativity.
- Conduct and facilitate pickleball recreational programs for participants.
- Compile and submit reports related to program activities, including attendance records.
- Maintain a professional, courteous demeanor towards parents, participants, supervisors, and colleagues, demonstrating enthusiasm for teaching.
- Regularly inspect all pickleball equipment and communicate any needs to the Recreation Manager.
- Exhibit punctuality and reliability in attendance.
- Acquire and uphold knowledge of Park District policies and ensure compliance at all times.
- Participate in district-wide orientations, crisis management training, and staff development sessions as required.
- Adhere to the District's Dress Code by wearing clean, presentable attire and an employee name tag.
- Follow all safety policies and regulations established by the Park District, recognizing that safety is a continuous responsibility for all staff.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Communication & Customer Service
- Foster and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues to enhance morale and enthusiasm.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate important information promptly and effectively.
- Propose recommendations to management for operational improvements.
- Represent the Dundee Township Park District in a professional manner.
Safety & Risk Management
- Maintain awareness of all general agency and department-specific safety protocols.
- Utilize appropriate equipment or seek assistance when lifting or moving heavy objects.
- Report any work-related injuries to the supervisor without delay.
- Attend mandatory safety training and in-service education sessions.
- Identify and rectify unsafe conditions when possible, alerting colleagues to potential hazards and reporting them to the supervisor.
- Provide instruction to colleagues on safety procedures as necessary.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- A minimum of one year of prior teaching or coaching experience is required.
- Knowledge of pickleball, its skills, and basic equipment is essential.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently is necessary.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are required.
- Effective communication skills with staff and the public are essential.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Good physical condition with adequate strength and mobility is required.
- Mechanical aptitude, including familiarity with tools and equipment, is necessary.
- Proficiency in technology or the ability to learn new technologies is expected.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language is required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to remain calm in high-pressure situations are essential.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Attention to detail is crucial.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Hours
- This is a part-time seasonal position.
- Work hours will vary based on scheduled events or activities, which may include evenings and weekends.
