Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Retail Store Associate to join our team at Big Lots Stores. As a key member of our sales floor team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and supporting our freight flow process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including the sales floor, stockroom, and exterior areas.
  • Support our freight flow process, including unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, and recovering inventory.
  • Participate in furniture department operations, including carry-outs and display assembly as needed.
  • Perform daily front-end maintenance, including check stand cleanliness, replenishment of merchandise and supplies, and floor safety.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Store Leadership, such as cart retrieval, shrink control, and safety-related tasks.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Prior retail experience preferred.
  • Previous experience operating a cash register preferred.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds required.
  • Ability to unload freight, move product on and off store shelves, and walk, stand, bend, stoop, or kneel for long periods of time.
  • Basic English literacy and math skills required.
