Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Location: 1800 Lombard Street

Hours: Per Diem, Per Departmental Needs

Summary:

Provide psychotherapy services for general adult patients in an outpatient or in-patient setting.

Provide clinical supervision to psychotherapy trainees.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform psychological assessments of common mental health disorders in an ambulatory psychiatric care setting with a diverse population of adult patients (18+ years of age).
  2. Work as a primary clinical care team member to provide empirically supported treatment of common mental health disorders and provide psychoeducation for patients and their support systems.
  3. Evaluate crises and apply appropriate interventions.
  4. Document the psychological assessment, interventions, and treatment plans in a timely and appropriate manner, to maintain thorough records in compliance with professional standards, and regulatory and insurance requirements.
  5. Consult and collaborate with prescribing clinicians regarding medication for the management and treatment of mental health disorders when necessary.
  6. Refer patients to specialty mental health services when necessary.
  7. Provide clinical supervision to psychotherapy trainees, cultivating and developing the next generation of psychotherapists.
  8. Prepare, present, and disseminate didactic knowledge with colleagues and trainees regarding various theoretical orientations and interventions.
  9. Responsible for emotionally managing traumatic information daily.
  10. Responsible for providing resilient self-support and processing difficult information with colleagues.
  11. Participate in Department quality improvement initiatives and meetings.
  12. Identify problems related to patient services and make recommendations for improvement.
  13. Participate in Entity and Department initiatives for Patient/Employee safety.
  14. Demonstrate an awareness of patient/employee safety when carrying out the daily responsibilities of position.
  15. Annual validation of competencies required for the position.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

Ph.D. Clinical Psychology (Required)

2 years post-graduate experience in providing psychotherapy (Required)

Licenses, Registration, Certifications:

Clinical Psychologist, Active license to practice psychology in the Commonwealth of PA, necessary continuing education credits to maintain licensure in psychology, credentials to practice psychotherapy (Required)

PsyPact with Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) OR active license to practice psychology in the state of New Jersey (Preferred)

Successfully credentialed by the University of Pennsylvania, Office of Medical Affairs, before the hire date (Required)

State of PA background clearance (PATCH report) (Required)

Fingerprinting and FBI clearance (if residing outside of the state of Pennsylvania, or if residency in PA is less than two years) (Required)

Skills & Abilities:

Experience in performing individual psychotherapy with a demographically diverse population of individuals with mental health disorders in an outpatient setting.

Ability to manage the delivery of clinical care services in an efficient and effective manner.
