Job Title: Clinical Psychologist

As a Clinical Psychologist at Penn Medicine, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse population of adult patients, providing psychotherapy services in an outpatient or in-patient setting.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform psychological assessments of common mental health disorders in an ambulatory psychiatric care setting.
  • Provide empirically supported treatment of common mental health disorders and offer psychoeducation for patients and their support systems.
  • Evaluate crises and apply appropriate interventions.
  • Document psychological assessments, interventions, and treatment plans in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Consult and collaborate with prescribing clinicians regarding medication for the management and treatment of mental health disorders.
  • Refer patients to specialty mental health services when necessary.
  • Provide clinical supervision to psychotherapy trainees, cultivating and developing the next generation of psychotherapists.
  • Prepare, present, and disseminate didactic knowledge with colleagues and trainees regarding various theoretical orientations and interventions.
  • Participate in Department quality improvement initiatives and meetings, identifying problems related to patient services and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Participate in Entity and Department initiatives for Patient/Employee safety, demonstrating an awareness of patient/employee safety when carrying out daily responsibilities.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (Required).
  • 2 years post-graduate experience in providing psychotherapy (Required).
  • Active license to practice psychology in the Commonwealth of PA, necessary continuing education credits to maintain licensure in psychology, and credentials to practice psychotherapy (Required).
  • PsyPact with Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) or active license to practice psychology in the state of New Jersey (Preferred).
  • Successfully credentialed by the University of Pennsylvania, Office of Medical Affairs, before the hire date (Required).
  • State of PA background clearance (PATCH report) (Required).
  • Fingerprinting and FBI clearance (if residing outside of the state of Pennsylvania, or if residency in PA is less than two years) (Required).
Skills & Abilities:
  • Experience in performing individual psychotherapy with a demographically diverse population of individuals with mental health disorders in an outpatient setting.
  • Ability to manage the delivery of clinical care services in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Treats people respectfully.
  • Is open to and respects differences, ideas, and suggestions.
  • Maintains Confidentiality.
  • Adheres to established policies and procedures.
