Job Summary

The Field Buyer is a critical role in ensuring that all onsite purchasing and receiving activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the field requisition process to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials.
  • Obtain competitive quotes for all material requisitions and purchases at the field level, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the field receiving and inventory control processes to ensure accurate tracking and storage of materials.
  • Ensure that Purchase Orders, Invoices, and Receiving Reports are completed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with site management to ensure that project-specific receiving and staging areas are designated for material deliveries.
  • Reconcile Concur credit card statements weekly, attaching approved emails or Requisition numbers.
  • Collaborate with Laydown Yard Foreman and Construction Managers to maintain optimal inventory levels of bulk materials.
  • Responsible for warehouse/site inventory procurement activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Wanzek's Corporate Offices and onsite management regarding job progress and resolving any outstanding conflicts.
  • Track and coordinate pre-turnover maintenance of permanent plant equipment.
  • Coordinate with Expeditor to ensure accurate delivery dates.
  • Provide backup support for the Materials Receiver.
Requirements
  • A minimum of two years of construction experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Internet applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of rigging and off-loading of materials.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret blueprints, technical procedures, and contracts.
