Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Corrections Technician to join our team at the Volusia County Correctional Facility. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facility, including the processing of inmates, maintenance of records, and provision of support services to law enforcement agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process incoming inmates and arrestees, ensuring accurate and efficient handling of paperwork and records.
  • Operate modern office equipment, including computers, scanners, and printers, to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Provide support services to law enforcement agencies, including fingerprinting, data entry, and record-keeping.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of inmate movements, releases, and other facility activities.
  • Assist with the coordination of inmate visits, including attorneys, investigators, and approved visitors.
  • Perform various clerical duties, including answering telephones, sorting and distributing mail, and maintaining accurate daily activity logs.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of clerical experience and one year in records-related work preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and process fingerprints from individuals charged with a criminal offense.
  • Knowledge of modern office equipment, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to file numerically and alphabetically, and maintain complex clerical records and prepare reports from such records.
  • Ability to interact effectively with others, including law enforcement officers, court officials, and inmates.
Working Conditions

This position is located within the secured areas of the Volusia County Correctional Facility and branch jail in Daytona Beach, Florida. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interaction with law enforcement personnel and inmates. The position requires the ability to work under stressful conditions, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
