Job Title: Licensed Special Education Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Licensed Special Education Teacher to join our team at KIPP Memphis Public Schools. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students with special needs, promoting a college-preparatory culture, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure student success.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs
  • Provide research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's IEP
  • Assess student progress and determine the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement instructional strategies and interventions
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to ensure student success
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • Active Tennessee state licensure and certification in Special Education
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of special education
  • Experience working with children with behavior and emotional disabilities
  • Commitment to working with educationally underserved students
  • Commitment to the design and development of the school

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two years of teaching experience
  • Master's degree in Education or a related field
  • Experience teaching in an urban school and/or charter network
