Job Description

KIPP Memphis Public Schools is a national network of tuition-free, open-enrollment, public schools that provide high-quality education to students from educationally underserved communities. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and character needed to succeed in college and beyond.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver effective, high-quality, rigorous instruction in special education to produce unmatched results and student understanding.
  • Promote a college-preparatory culture that assists students on their journey to and through college.
  • Develop and implement annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students to include present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the special education and related services required to meet those goals.
  • Assess student progress and determine the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.
  • Employ various teaching techniques, methods, and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals.

Requirements:

  • Active Tennessee state licensure and certification in special education.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of special education.
  • Knowledge and skills in working with children with behavior and emotional disabilities.
  • Commitment to working with educationally underserved students.
  • Commitment to the design and development of the school.
