Welding Technician

Position Summary:

The role involves acquiring the expertise to interpret and utilize blueprints effectively. The individual will be responsible for preparing, assembling, and maintaining various oilfield products. Working with minimal oversight, the technician will execute welding tasks within designated teams. The position requires conducting visual and in-process inspections to adhere to API and ISO quality standards. The technician will assist the team in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving welding challenges to enhance productivity. Supporting team objectives is a critical aspect of this role, and periodic welding assessments and qualifications are mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble various components into complete skidded packages.
• Select appropriate fabrication tools and devise layout, assembly, and welding methods.
• Secure parts in position for welding using bolts, clamps, and tack-welding techniques.
• Repair products by disassembling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling components, utilizing fabrication equipment as necessary.
• Assemble piping on skidded vessels, both threaded and non-threaded.
• Measure and manipulate threaded pipes using pipe wrenches.
• Set up and operate RT & UT Quality Vessel Weld Processes – 3 (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW).
• Set up and execute RT Quality Pipe Weld – All Positions (6G).
• Set up and manage UT Quality Nozzle Welds – All positions (6G).
• Perform Carbon Arc Gouging as required.
• Conduct any necessary UT or RT Weld Repairs.
• Ensure all welds are cleaned and stamped appropriately.
• Set up and run all structural non-code welds.
• Demonstrate proficiency in operating all welding equipment.
• Read and interpret drawings, WPS's/PQR's accurately.
• Possess knowledge of PT, MT, UT, RT methods.
• Make informed decisions effectively.
• Complete tasks efficiently.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety.
• Achieve an average weld repair percentage of less than 0.5%.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

• Strong ability to interpret and apply blueprints, welding specifications, and procedures.
• Proficient in using welding measuring tools, including squares, levels, and tape measures.
• Capable of operating air tools effectively.
• In-depth knowledge of various welding processes.
• Demonstrated ability to read and utilize welding measuring devices accurately.

Educational Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of welding assessments and qualifications.

Experience:

• Preferred 6+ months of welding experience.
