Summary Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Manure Technician will organize and operate the day-to-day functions of the manure management program. Key Responsibilities
Run manure out of animal welfare houses (barns) Operate manure drying system Complete all operating schedules of manure belts, air blowers and manure storage Responsible for the daily, preventative and predictive maintenance for the manure system- bearings, chains, belts, etc. Track and document all activities (ie: running times) with correct forms and paperwork Collaborate with other team members such as Layer Animal Caretakers, Compost Technicians and Maintenance Technicians (inside and outside) to ensure smooth operation of system Work with other members of the maintenance department for special projects when time allows Clean and take inventory when necessary Work overtime as required Perform other duties as assigned

High School Education Maintenance experience (minimum two-years, preferred) Agricultural experience (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong troubleshooting skills Well-rounded knowledge of maintenance techniques (knowledge of stick welding a plus) Capable of safe operation of required equipment and tools Skilled in lock-out/tag-out and other safety procedures Capacity to follow guidelines, safety rules, and policies (ie: animal husbandry) Competent operation of tractors, skid loaders and pay loaders may be needed Skilled with Microsoft Windows and file management (preferred) Ability to work as a team player to accomplish goals while remaining positive and encouraging to others Ability to work alone and/or with little supervision Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
Physical Demands Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 10 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Work Environment Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. Temperature varies in relation to the outside temperature. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Proper personal protective equipment will be required during certain working conditions.
