Job Title: Lead Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer to join our team at Quantus Management Resources. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for managing the development, procurement, and validation of molds, ensuring that we utilize the most innovative technologies available to design, produce, and maintain high-quality molds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement tooling strategies to support production goals and objectives.
  • Manage new tool construction projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to design and implement efficient tooling solutions.
  • Manage the tooling repair department, ensuring that all tools are properly maintained and repaired.
  • Monitor tooling performance and identify areas for improvement, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Design and develop new tooling, fixtures, and gages to support production activities.
  • Create and maintain documentation for all tooling and processes, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations to senior management.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality and reliability of tooling and materials.
  • Research and implement new technologies to enhance mold repair, maintenance, and construction, ensuring improved performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure that new and existing products and tool designs are moldable and suggest design changes or alternative processes as needed.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for continuous improvement, researching new technologies and processes to improve product, mold, material, and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with vendors to bring alternative methods, materials, and equipment to manufacturing, improving mold and mold maintenance.
  • Assist manufacturing in process improvement initiatives, ensuring that all processes are optimized for efficiency and quality.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in the injection molding industry, with a focus on tool design.
  • 10+ years of supervisory and management experience.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Direct hands-on experience in mold design and construction.
  • Experience with 3D modeling software and moldflow analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret moldflow analyses.
  • Experience working with various mold materials and metal types.
  • Advanced experience in cold runner and hot runner manifold systems.
  • Experience collaborating with teams of engineers and technicians.
  • Experience with plastics manufacturing processes, including injection molding, extrusion, blow mold, thermoform, and others.
  • Experience working with various polymers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
