Job Summary

This position plays a crucial role in the smooth operation of our retail stores, reporting directly to the Store Manager. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, the ability to motivate and direct team members, and a strong focus on customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and assign daily tasks to sales associates and utility workers.
  • Exercise independent judgment and make informed decisions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive shopping experience for all customers.
  • Oversee the sorting and grading of donations and truck shipments, ensuring timely and effective distribution of merchandise.
  • Operate cash registers efficiently, minimizing wait times for customers.
  • Identify and process online sales, marking and stocking new merchandise according to established procedures.
  • Manage donor interactions, providing a positive experience and ensuring accurate donation counts.
  • Prevent theft by remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activities to management.
  • Assist with store upkeep, including snow removal, light bulb replacement, and window washing.
  • Train and mentor new team members, promoting a culture of excellence and adherence to agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and clean store environment, communicating needs for repair and maintenance to management.
  • Complete daily paperwork, deposits, and reports as directed by the Store Manager.
  • Submit truck orders in a timely manner and assist with loading and unloading merchandise.
  • Minimize waste and maximize salvage revenue by recycling products and operating equipment efficiently.
  • Ensure equipment is in safe working condition and all safeguards are in place.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related full-time employment or military service may substitute.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to direct, assign, and delegate daily tasks to team members.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make informed decisions.
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for promoting a culture of excellence.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Loyalty to the agency and its mission and policies.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to obtain a forklift license.
  • Ability to use good judgment, discretion, and initiative.
