This role involves direct accountability to the principal and adherence to the educational policies and guidelines set forth by the Diocese of Orlando and the Office of Catholic Schools. The specialist collaborates with the principal and staff to foster an educational atmosphere that embodies the mission of Catholic education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Upholds and teaches in alignment with the Catholic Church's doctrinal and moral principles;
- Comprehends and effectively delivers the curriculum as outlined by the Diocese of Orlando;
- Evaluates student progress following the established protocols of the Diocese of Orlando;
- Demonstrates knowledge and consistent application of the mission, philosophy, objectives, and policies of the Catholic institution;
- Executes teaching responsibilities as delegated by the principal;
- Engages with students both inside and outside the classroom;
- Facilitates small group instruction and integrates into the classroom environment;
- Maintains valid Florida state teaching certification;
- Regularly communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and the principal;
- Participates in the Diocese of Orlando Diocesan Catechist Certification Program and engages in Diocesan and school-sponsored professional development opportunities;
- Attends mandatory faculty and staff meetings;
- Collaborates with the principal and staff in school-related meetings, activities, and initiatives;
- Maintains precise student attendance and academic records;
- Ensures a safe, organized, and secure learning environment;
- Engages in the semi-annual performance evaluation based on the execution of the general responsibilities of a professional educator;
- Upholds confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and overall school matters;
- Supervises and assesses students, guiding them between buildings and during field trips;
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Practicing Catholic preferred.
- Must comply with Diocesan FBI fingerprint clearance and fulfill Safe Environment training and testing requirements.
- Possession of appropriate Florida State Teaching Certification.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
- ESE certification is required.
