Job Description:

Shipyard Staffing LLC is seeking a highly skilled Shipyard Machinist to join our team. As a Marine Equipment Specialist, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of complex machinery and equipment on U.S. Naval Surface Ships and Submarines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Remove, repair, and install major propulsion, auxiliary, and weapon system equipment in accordance with applicable professional/trade standards and practices.
  • Install Steering and Diving system components and repair all types of main and auxiliary machinery, including capstan, shaft seals, snorkel induction, snorkel exhaust, mast, and various types of pumps, resilient mounts, valves, and valve sub-components.
  • Perform repair and restoration work on a fat or thin-line system, propulsion shaft, shaft couplings or vibration reducers, fairwater, stern plane, and/or steering & diving system components.
  • Remove, repair, overhaul, install, and align equipment associated with auxiliary systems such as condensers, compressors, pumps, forced draft blowers, main feed pumps, and various types of valves.
  • Install and repair foundations for operating machinery and principal structures/components of ship's armament.
  • Install, adjust, set, and repair or replace various control/regulating or safety devices such as meters, gauges, valves, governors, and automatic alarms.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of four (4) years of verifiable experience in the assigned trade in heavy industrial applications, including a minimum of two (2) years work experience on U.S. Navy ships/vessels.
  • Qualified to use typical trade-related precision measurement instruments such as height gauges, depth gauges, calipers, Vernier scales, and various types of micrometers.
