Job Summary

The Rotor & Drive Design Engineer at Bell Helicopter is responsible for designing and developing complex Rotor & Drive system components, including blades, hubs, swashplates, shafts, bearings, gears & gearboxes, and other supporting components. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical design principles, CAD software, and analytical tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new and modified Rotor & Drive Design concepts, maturing and supporting these concepts through detail design, component test, and flight testing.
  • Create detail, assembly, and installation design definition in the form of 2D and 3D technical data utilizing CAD software and various analytical tools.
  • Support manufacturing and testing of components and sub-systems, interpreting technical data and assisting in product improvements.
  • Improve detail, assembly, and installation design definition in the form of 2D and 3D technical data utilizing CAD software and PLM software.
  • Participate in a cross-functional team environment, completing a variety of objectives depending on the program lifecycle assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is required.
  • 5 years minimum of aerospace design on primary structural components required, with Rotors or Drives experience preferred.
  • Mechanical design layout and detail design experience with 2D/3D modeling, requirement capture, and specification development in aerospace on primary structural components.
  • Experience working in a precision manufacturing environment, focused on mechanical or non-mechanical component manufacturing processes such as composite layups, metal machining, heat treatments, and other specialized processes is preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical computer-aided design tools such as CATIA v6, UG v5, and/or ProE.
  • Proficiency with basic office computer software, specifically the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) is required.
  • Must have working knowledge of GD&T requirements.
  • Must have demonstrated success working in a team environment and articulating technical data and concepts to a wide audience of individuals with different technical backgrounds.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a variety of activities and tasks while dealing with change.
