Pediatric Nurse Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Nurse Specialist to join our team at Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus. As a Pediatric Nurse Specialist, you will provide exceptional care to pediatric patients in our post-operative care unit, utilizing your expertise in assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and Planning: Perform thorough assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, and social needs, and develop individualized care plans to address their unique requirements.
  • Education and Implementation: Provide comprehensive education to patients and their families on post-operative care, medications, and treatment plans, ensuring they are empowered to take an active role in their recovery.
  • Evaluation and Documentation: Continuously evaluate patient progress, updating care plans as needed, and document all interactions, treatments, and outcomes in the medical record.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a pediatric nursing setting, preferably in a post-operative care unit.
  • Licensure: Current RN license in the state of Texas or the ability to obtain one.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
