Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at DCH Health System. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality laboratory results to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Specimen Preparation and Testing: Obtain and prepare specimens for laboratory testing, performing automated and non-automated laboratory tests to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  2. Instrument Calibration and Maintenance: Calibrate, standardize, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot various instruments, ensuring proper functioning and quality control.
  3. Documentation and Quality Control: Maintain accurate documentation of laboratory procedures, quality control, and proficiency testing results, recognizing instrument malfunctions or out-of-control test results and taking corrective action.
  4. Infection Control and Safety: Adhere to infection control and safety practices, following policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  5. Training and Education: Participate in training and teaching theory and practical applications to others, as directed by laboratory management, and assist in teaching continuing education courses.
  6. Supply Management: Inventory, order, and stock supplies, ensuring proper storage and handling while minimizing waste.
  7. Leadership and Communication: Serve as primary or secondary responsible person in assigned areas or instruments, maintaining survey readiness and resolving billing and order errors.
Requirements
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) within 18 months of employment from a recognized agency.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of employment and thereafter.
  • Ability to read and write English.
