Experience: Solid understanding of all aspects of respiratory care
License: Illinois RCP license
Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist
Must-Have: BLS (CPR), RRT
Job Description:
- Perform routine and critical respiratory care procedures under supervision, ensuring the highest level of patient care.
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care services to patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric, with a focus on delivering exceptional patient outcomes.
- Disassemble, wash, rinse, dry, and package respiratory equipment to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Evaluate patient respiratory care results per care plans, making adjustments as needed to ensure optimal patient care.
- Serve as a role model, demonstrating expertise in clinical judgment and technical skills, and promoting a culture of excellence within the team.
- Prepare and test respiratory therapy equipment for safety and proper operation, ensuring that all equipment is functioning correctly.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to the manager, ensuring prompt resolution and minimizing downtime.
- Process and maintain respiratory equipment, ensuring that all equipment is properly cleaned, stored, and maintained.
- Accurately chart respiratory flow sheets and care plans in the EMR, ensuring that all patient information is up-to-date and accurate.
- Charge accurately in the EMR, ensuring that all patient charges are correctly recorded.
- Complete assessments on ventilator patients and others receiving respiratory care services, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
- Recommend timely interventions and further treatment or referrals as needed, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care.
- Record procedures, patient responses, and compliance with sleep therapy, providing valuable insights for patient care.
- Consult with supervising Respiratory Care Practitioner regarding adverse effects, ensuring that patients receive prompt and effective care.
- Write and relay patient information to physicians, ensuring that all patient information is accurately communicated.
- Evaluate patients for routine respiratory care therapy in inpatient units and the Emergency room, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
- Obtain and analyze blood gases—arterial, venous, and capillary, providing valuable insights for patient care.
- Assist in cleaning respiratory care related equipment, ensuring that all equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
- Assist with stocking supplies on inpatient care units, ensuring that all necessary supplies are available.
