We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team at Carle Foundation Hospital. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the safe and effective operation of respiratory equipment.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform routine and critical respiratory care procedures under the supervision of a Respiratory Care Supervisor and Medical Director.
- Responsible for the performance and competency of care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
- Disassemble, wash, rinse, dry, and package respiratory equipment.
- Evaluate the results of patient respiratory care delivered per care plans effectively.
- Function as a role model in respiratory care, demonstrating competency in clinical judgment, select technical skills, and appropriate knowledge base.
- Prepare and test respiratory therapy equipment for proper and safe operation and check equipment in use and on units for proper operations and routine service.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to the manager.
- Process and maintain respiratory equipment.
- Accurately chart on the respiratory flow sheets in the EMR and on the care plans. Accurately charge in the EMR.
- Complete assessments on ventilator patients and all other patients on respiratory care services.
- Recommend timely interventions and the need for further treatment or referral in the participant's respiratory care regimen.
- Record procedures, patient response, and compliance with sleep therapy documentation requirements. Consult with the Respiratory Care Practitioner on any adverse effects and compliance with equipment, relaying the same information in writing to the physician.
- Evaluate patients for routine respiratory care therapy in inpatient units and the emergency room.
- Obtain and analyze blood gases - arterial, venous, and capillary.
- Assist in cleaning respiratory care-related equipment.
- Assist with stocking respiratory care-related supplies in the inpatient care units.
Requirements:
- Previous experience required
- Illinois RCP license
- BLS (American Heart Association) certification
- NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist certification
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
