Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Truck Refrigeration Technician to join our team at Walmart. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs on transport refrigeration units (TRU) and trailers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on TRU and trailer electrical systems, refrigeration systems, and tractor climate control systems.
  • Maintain and repair trailers in accordance with established procedures, including electrical/wiring, lighting and light assemblies, landing gear, interior panels, roof repairs, tire seals, flooring, doors, and threshold plates.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of tractor-trailer braking system components, including adjustment or replacement.
  • Install and dismount tires onto/off wheels using tire tools/machinery and repair flats and balances tires according to established protocols.
  • Conduct fuel sampling, including monitoring the drop for safety compliance, adhering to fuel additives procedures, monitoring tank levels prior to and following the drop, collecting and preparing fuel samples for analysis and shipping, and completing necessary documentation.
  • Assess maintenance, repair, and replacement needs, identify needed parts and possible solutions, consult with others, and choose the best possible solution.
  • Perform repairs and replacements in accordance with company and Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines and requirements.
Requirements
  • 3 years' experience in trailer refrigeration maintenance and repair.
  • EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Handling Certification.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Brake inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25.
  • Vehicle Inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and Department of Transportation (DOT) driver's certification.
  • Maintaining tractors and trailers, including preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Thermo King Master Tech, Carrier Master Tech, or equivalent.
  • Using computer applications, including email, spreadsheets, and word processing.
