Patient Care Assistant in Texarkana TX

Position Overview:
Under the direct oversight of a Registered Nurse or licensed Nurse, this role involves assisting with routine and repetitive patient care tasks within a healthcare setting. The position also encompasses specific clerical, organizational, and patient-centered activities that are primarily supportive in nature.
Key Responsibilities:
• Adheres to the relevant OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Aids in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes of patients.
• Completes necessary documentation accurately.
• Prepares patient rooms for admissions by setting up IV equipment and adjusting beds to suitable heights.
• Ensures that all personal belongings of patients are transported to the new unit or home upon discharge.
• Safely transports stable patients as required.
• Maintains confidentiality and security while transporting patients and interacting with family members and visitors.
• Cleans, acquires, and returns medical equipment and supplies.
• Runs errands for the unit as necessary.
• Assists licensed personnel in creating a safe and comfortable environment; replenishes patient rooms with water, linens, and towels as needed.
• Performs unit-specific patient care tasks in accordance with established skill checklists and documents on the appropriate flowsheet.
• Identifies noticeable changes in patient conditions and promptly reports these changes to the nurse in charge.
• Assists with the ordering and management of stock items according to established inventory protocols when necessary.
• Maintains unit supplies in an organized and systematic manner.
• Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
• Communicates effectively with team members during and between shifts.
• Responds to phone inquiries and patient call lights promptly.
• Adapts patient assessment, treatment, and care methods to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs of each patient served.
• Demonstrates the competence to fulfill assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that aligns with the population-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
- Prior experience in a hospital environment preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
- CNA License in the state of employment is required.
Work Schedule:
7AM - 7PM
