Job OverviewPosition Summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist is dedicated to upholding the mission and standards of University Hospitals. This professional is responsible for executing essential respiratory therapy services with minimal oversight, ensuring quality care for patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administering mechanical ventilation
  • Delivering medicated aerosol treatments
  • Conducting airway clearance procedures
  • Monitoring patient conditions
  • Providing oxygen and humidity therapy
  • Performing special procedures including CPR, specialty gases, bronchoscopy, and patient transport

General Requirements

  • Completing additional tasks as assigned.
  • Adhering to all institutional policies and standards.
  • Refer to departmental documentation for specific responsibilities during orientation.
  • Ensuring the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with regulations.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must hold a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification and a valid license to practice in Ohio.
  • Membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) is highly desirable.

Preferred Experience:

A minimum of one year of recent experience in a clinical setting is preferred, with prior hospital experience being advantageous. The work schedule consists of night shifts, Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Incentives:

Employees working 35 hours or more are eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus, structured as follows: $3,000 after 90 days of employment and $7,000 after one year, contingent on performance.
