Core Duties:

  • Determine the appropriate transportation mode to meet shipment specifications.
  • Source qualified carriers for each shipment to ensure safe and timely delivery while complying with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize carrier sourcing technologies, including in-house databases and load boards, to connect carriers with shipments.
  • Maintain effective communication with carriers, customers, and internal teams.
  • Price shipments competitively to ensure coverage while meeting company objectives.
  • Anticipate and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Track all booked loads from pickup to delivery to ensure accurate information is available.

Partner Carrier Interaction:

  • Continuously seek new carriers to meet operational needs and enhance performance.
  • Develop quality carriers into core partners.
  • Inform management of carrier performance strengths and weaknesses.
  • Manage a monthly Carrier Scorecard to evaluate carrier performance.
  • Oversee carrier onboarding processes.
  • Ensure accurate management of the carrier database.
  • Select appropriate carriers to maintain an On-Time Performance level exceeding 97%.

Rating:

  • Oversee invoice reconciliation and approval for invoices exceeding general thresholds.
  • Identify invoicing errors and collaborate with carriers for corrections.
  • Assist management in maintaining customer rate schedules.

Customer Service:

  • Communicate and resolve issues with all customers in a professional manner.
  • Provide timely and detailed responses to customer inquiries.
  • Identify solutions to resolve customer issues effectively.
  • Build rapport and relationships with customers.
  • Recognize when service levels may not be met and take appropriate action.
  • Identify trends in recurring issues to determine if they require further attention.

Freight Management Reports:

  • Utilize various resources to compile operational reports.
  • Provide reports within established timelines.

Cross Coverage:

  • Assist in covering various duties in the absence of team members.
  • Help train team members on new tasks.

Claims:

  • File customer claims in accordance with regulations.

On Call Coverage:

  • Assist with on-call coverage as determined by management.

Project Management:

  • Support management in project tasks as needed.
