Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality patient care and services to patients of all ages at Lancaster General Health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Clinical Guidance: Offer expert clinical guidance to patients via phone or electronic correspondence, utilizing clinical judgment and triage protocols in accordance with regulatory requirements and standards of practice.
  • Patient Education and Support: Provide personalized education and support to patients on preventive care, chronic disease management, acute diagnosis, medications, and other areas pertinent to patient outcomes.
  • Room Preparation and Maintenance: Prepare patient rooms using standardized rooming tools and maintain a clean and organized environment.
  • Medication Administration and Management: Administer injections and medications as prescribed by the provider, adhering to department protocols, regulatory requirements, and standards of practice.
  • Procedure Assistance and Support: Assist providers with various procedures, minor surgeries, and exams as designated by the provider.
  • Point of Care Testing and Specimen Collection: Perform Point of Care Testing, including but not limited to hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests, and collect blood or other laboratory specimens and prepare them for further testing.
  • Prescription Refills and Test Tracking: Authorize prescription refills as instructed by the provider and assist with test tracking and monitoring overdue results.
  • Wound Care and Exam Room Maintenance: Remove sutures and change dressings on wounds as necessary and ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit.
  • Care Coordination and Proactive Outreach: Assist providers and patients in reviewing and revising care plans, assess patient progress, and follow up with patients between visits as necessary.
  • Performance Improvement and Daily Huddles: Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance overall patient experience and quality of care and participate in daily huddles with the provider.
  • Patient Advocacy and Confidentiality: Serve as a patient experience advocate by being a positive influence at all times when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues, and handle all patient information in a confidential manner according to Lancaster General Health's privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Front Office Support and Regional Travel: Perform various front office responsibilities as necessary and may require some regional travel; a valid driver's license is required if traveling.
  • On-Call Responsibilities and Other Duties: Participate in on-call responsibilities for this position as required and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education and Licensure: Completion of a LPN or a RN educational program and current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), issued by the PA State Board of Nursing.
  • Certification and Travel: AHA CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days of hire and ability to travel to multiple sites is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Nursing Experience and Specialty Experience: One (1) to Two (2) years of nursing experience in a primary or specialty care physician's office and prior triage, emergency room, cardiac care, intensive care, or other related specialty nursing experience.
