Position Title: Educational Support Specialist

Qualifications:

  1. Completion of two years of higher education or possession of Work Keys certification.

Reports To: Principal

Objective: To assist educators in the effective delivery of instructional services to students.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain regular and punctual attendance; adhere to the system's policies regarding sick leave and personal leave.
  2. Support academic, therapeutic, and recreational activities under the guidance of a certified educator, as designated.
  3. Aid educators by reviewing student notebooks, computer assignments, and daily written and oral tasks.
  4. Assist in the preparation of instructional materials, bulletin boards, and other educational displays.
  5. Help with non-instructional classroom responsibilities such as snacks, breaks, feeding, personal hygiene, and other tasks as directed.
  6. Supervise and escort students during lunch, assemblies, physical education, on school transportation, off-campus activities, and assessments as assigned.
  7. Engage in professional development activities and training for paraprofessionals as required by the State Department of Education and local Board of Education.
  8. Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans.
  9. Maintain a professional and respectful relationship with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.
  10. Uphold the confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, and the educational institution.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Ability to assist students physically as needed.
  2. Capable of lifting moderately heavy items, up to 50 pounds, regularly in certain classrooms.
  3. Occasional climbing, stooping, bending, pushing, balancing, kneeling, and reaching may be required.
  4. Possess adequate strength, mobility, dexterity, agility, and sensory acuity to fulfill necessary tasks.

*In exceptional circumstances (such as natural disasters, pandemics, or other critical situations), additional responsibilities may be assigned to support the continuity of educational and related functions as required.
