About the Role of Route Operations Manager
As a Route Operations Manager, you will oversee the onboarding, training, coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluation of a team of approximately 15 drivers. Your role will involve fostering positive relationships with all frontline personnel, spending a significant portion of your day in the field alongside your team.

Key Responsibilities

Onboarding

  • Provide new frontline employees with the necessary tools, guidance, and feedback to excel in their daily responsibilities.
  • Engage with new hires daily to ensure ongoing communication and support throughout the onboarding process.

Training and Development

  • Maintain regular contact with frontline employees to provide timely feedback and support.
  • Continuously review best practices to improve daily operations.
  • Focus on understanding and advancing the career aspirations of frontline employees.

Coaching

  • Identify areas for improvement and collaborate with frontline employees to ensure their ongoing success.
  • Actively seek and apply feedback on coaching discussions.

Mentorship

  • Lead by example to prioritize safety practices among all employees.
  • Educate and instill an understanding of the company's operational standards.

Performance Oversight

  • Conduct thorough investigations for all incidents and injuries, ensuring consistent disciplinary actions and retraining.
  • Maintain documentation required by regulatory bodies, including the Department of Transportation.
  • Review and audit operational documentation daily (e.g., vehicle inspection reports, driver attendance, outstanding issues), following up as necessary.
  • Assess customer sites to identify and address safety concerns, exploring service alternatives when appropriate.

Qualifications for Route Operations Manager
The qualifications outlined below are representative of the skills and experience required to perform this role.

  • Education: Associate's Degree (accredited), High School Diploma (accredited) along with two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience: Completion of the Route Manager Trainee program or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Understanding of route analysis and logistics.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

Work Environment
This position operates in a combination of office and field environments, regularly utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and copy machines.
