Role Overview of a Behavioral Support Technician

As a Per-Diem Behavioral Support Technician/ABA Therapist (RBT), you will implement ABA Therapy to positively impact the lives of children (ages 2 to 9) diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental and language delays, all while fostering a fun and creative atmosphere. Our individualized approach emphasizes natural play to teach essential skills, recognizing that each child's journey to success is unique. We continuously strive to do whatever it takes to help our children achieve their goals on their own terms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one therapy to clients.
  • Adhere to the prescribed skill acquisition and behavior support plans.
  • Collect and document data accurately.
  • Write therapy notes for each session using an electronic medical records system.
  • Communicate with parents and caregivers about the client's progress as directed by the assigned Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Assist the BCBA in preparing and organizing client materials as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized therapy environment.
  • Ensure client safety and confidentiality at all times.
  • Engage in ongoing training to enhance functional and technical knowledge.
  • Obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification and adhere to the guidelines set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • Contribute positively to the work environment.
Requirements

Basic & Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry clients weighing at least 30 pounds.
  • Willingness to restrain/hold/transport clients and perform quick movements as necessary.
  • Capability to maintain various postures, including kneeling, squatting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk and run to ensure client safety.
  • Proficiency in attending to basic needs such as feeding and dressing.
  • Manual dexterity for data collection and documentation tasks.
  • Visual acuity for reading and comprehending written communication.
  • Ability to maintain prolonged periods of computer work.
  • Skills in assembling and maintaining therapy spaces, including toys and furniture.
  • Capability to administer medication to clients.
Experience Required:
  • Minimum of one year of experience in Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Registered Behavior Technician Certification.
Preferred Experience: Experience working with children aged 2-12 in educational or care settings, and familiarity with the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
