Overview

The Surgical Specialties Team at Emory University Hospital is in search of skilled Anesthetists, specifically Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) or Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAA), to play a crucial role within Emory Healthcare's comprehensive academic health system.

Work Schedule

This is a Full-Time position with a rotating schedule that includes on-call responsibilities. The work schedule may consist of 3-4 days per week, with options for 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts, based on preference.

Experience Requirements

Prior experience in General and/or Transplant Anesthesia is highly preferred.

Benefits of Joining the Anesthesia Team

Compensation ranges from $198,000 to $230,000 annually (for Full-Time, 1.0 FTE), determined by years of experience as an Anesthetist (CRNA or CAA).

Clinical Responsibilities

All Anesthetists at Emory University Hospital are expected to supervise Student Anesthetists and may have opportunities to engage in clinical research.

Within our Anesthesia Care Team model, CRNAs, CAAs, and MDs collaborate to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety for patients.

Job Functions

Under the supervision of an Anesthesiologist, the Anesthetist will:
  • Assist in administering general and regional anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical and non-surgical procedures
  • Perform initial acute cardio-pulmonary resuscitation in critical situations or as directed by a physician
  • Instruct others in anesthesia principles, respiratory care, and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation as needed
  • Monitor and record patients' physiological and pharmacological status, assisting the Anesthesiologist in collecting routine pre-operative data
  • Establish multi-parameter monitoring for patients before, during, and after anesthesia, including ECG and arterial pressure monitoring
  • Manage pre- and post-anesthetic care, including ventilator management and other respiratory care parameters as directed

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:
  • A Master's Degree from an accredited Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) program
  • Licensure or eligibility to practice in the State of Georgia
  • Certification from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) or the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA)
  • Maintenance of biannual certification through Continuing Medical Education credits (CMEs)
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA); ACLS and PALS may be required for certain services
