Position Overview: The Imaging Specialist plays a crucial role in executing both stationary and mobile radiographic/fluoroscopic and mobile CT examinations aimed at diagnosing and treating various medical conditions in surgical and perioperative settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging procedures, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Engage in patient education and perform quality assessment activities under the guidance of the Imaging Manager.
  • Carry out Imaging Time Outs to confirm the accuracy of patient, examination, protocol, and laterality.
  • Safely operate imaging equipment, selecting appropriate parameters tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Utilize ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles to minimize radiation exposure while producing optimal imaging results.
  • Administer contrast media and maintain intravenous access as per hospital protocols.
  • Provide compassionate care to patients, addressing their medical and comfort needs while responding effectively in emergencies.
  • Evaluate and screen patients for clinical appropriateness and provide necessary information regarding imaging procedures.
  • Document all imaging activities accurately in electronic medical records and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain inventory and cleanliness of imaging equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness for daily operations.
  • Participate in quality assurance and educational responsibilities, including maintaining current QA/QC data and assisting in the orientation of new staff.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography and a valid Radiology License.
  • No prior experience required, although previous experience is preferred.

Professional Development: Engage in continuous learning and maintain all necessary certifications, including BLS/RQI and ACLS, as mandated by regulatory standards.

This role emphasizes collaboration, integrity, and excellence, making the Imaging Specialist an integral part of the healthcare team.
