Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Asbestos Analyst to join our team at Intertek. As a key member of our Building & Construction team, you will be responsible for leading sample processing, preparation, and analysis, as well as reporting, QA/QC responsibilities, customer communication, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sample Processing and Preparation: Develop and implement efficient sample processing and preparation procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Sample Analysis and Reporting: Conduct phase contrast microscopy (PCM), polarized light microscopy (PLM), and potentially transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis, and prepare detailed reports for clients.
- Utilize Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS): Effectively use LIMS to manage and track samples, results, and client information.
- QA/QC Activities: Ensure compliance with industry standards and accrediting bodies, and implement quality control measures to maintain high-quality results.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Technical Support: Provide expert technical support and recommendations to clients and colleagues.
- Laboratory Operations: Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory environment, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as geology or environmental science.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental/industrial hygiene laboratory settings.
- Leadership Experience: Strong leadership experience, with a proven track record of leading teams and implementing process improvements.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in LIMS, PCM, PLM, and TEM analysis, as well as strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe software, with experience using laboratory information management systems.
