Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Lead ensures a safe and efficient working environment within the distribution center. This role involves coordinating daily maintenance activities to promptly address repair requests and service needs. The Lead will identify performance metrics and develop actionable plans for enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the Productivity Improvement Plan to pinpoint areas for enhancement and assist the Maintenance Manager in creating a measurement framework.
  • Review operational reports and assist in departmental planning, making necessary adjustments based on distribution center requirements.
  • Set daily production targets for the maintenance team.
  • Identify performance barriers through on-site observations.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to review staffing plans and determine optimal staffing levels based on operational volume and projects.
  • Establish work schedules aligned with preventative maintenance needs.
  • Conduct required audits and analyze results to make necessary adjustments to systems or personnel.
  • Ensure comprehensive training is provided for all maintenance staff.
  • Support safety initiatives in partnership with the safety committee to minimize workplace injuries.
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager and Human Resources to maintain OSHA compliance and serve as a liaison for regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain documentation related to building and facility insurance.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with budget management for the department.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents, safety regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculations and assessments.
  • Familiarity with cash handling and accountability procedures.
  • Ability to learn and operate cash register systems effectively.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising strategies.
  • Understanding of cash, facility, and safety control policies.
  • Experience in recruitment, interviewing, and compliance with legal hiring practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving abilities in varied situations.

Experience and Education:

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Understanding of automated systems and fire protection protocols.
  • Familiarity with reporting systems and OSHA documentation.
  • Proficient in computer applications including Word, Excel, and AutoCAD.

Working Conditions:

  • Availability for on-call support 24/7 for distribution center operations.
  • Prior maintenance experience is required.
  • Supervisory experience of at least two years is preferred.
  • Experience in an automated retail distribution environment is advantageous.
  • Vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or related trades is beneficial.
